Moody’s has recently published its annual report on Venezuela.

The report says that the credit profile of Venezuela (Caa3 negative) reflects substantial economic and credit challenges that include: (1) a large external funding gap and tightening availability of foreign exchange; (2) large macroeconomic imbalances and relative price distortions; (3) poor governance indicators, lack of transparency on economic data and inflation performance that reflect weak institutions; and (4) elevated sociopolitical tensions and a highly contentious political system.
